names of medications mentioned:
Hey guys so i’m i and i wanted to share with you my journey with adhd medications i get a lot of questions on it and i just wanted to make this video to hopefully help you maybe i’ll share an experience that i’ve had but i don’t want you to use this as a diagnosing tool or anything like that please only take medications that you are prescribed please i want you to
Consult with your doctor first okay and this is just my journey everyone’s different everybody’s different so don’t use this as you know a guide because it’s not a guide you’ll see but i suppose share my experience hopefully this helps because i wish that somebody shared with me their experience with medication so that i would feel a little less alone but it’s
Okay whatever so let’s just start with the very first medication that i ever took after being diagnosed with adhd which was ritalin i started when if i’m looking over here it’s because i wrote all of these down by the way but i started with five milligrams of ir and then ten milligrams of ir and if you’re wondering how i kept track of everything i had a medical
Not medical huh medicine tracking google sheet that my psychotherapist told me to write these things out and i’ll tell you like the categories on that sheet so i would write how i slept mood irritability concentration slash focus memory motivation such energy or one mission energy and ability to finish past and then side effects and then any other comments and i
Wanted to make up that day’s pessoa and of course like in the very beginning i put the medications and the dosage and the times that i would take each medication so highly recommend that it helped me remember because i know a lot of people have a lot of bias when they take medications they they may think that it helps a concentration or focus or fall but it’s kind
Of like a placebo effect you know it is bias and science like i’m i’m really aware of that and i did not want to take medication that didn’t actually help me but i was just thinking that helped me you know what i mean so yeah so i really tried to make it as detailed as possible so anyways ritalin didn’t do much for me at all the only thing it did was insomnia you
Might get bored a lot by the way but the only thing i did was cause me to have a lot of difficulty sleeping and i’ve tried i told my psychotherapist and then he says that tried to see after like 1 or 2 weeks if i still have insomnia or if i’m getting used to the medication so i did so i tried it again there are a few days for i skipped o on accident so that was
My bad but overall i didn’t feel any positive side effects the only negative side effects i felt were insomnia and a little bit increased anxiety for sure a little teeth country not you know severe but a little teeth clenching so yeah that was 5 million percent n of ir ir s instant released it’s different from extended release because you have to get multiple times
A day and it doesn’t last as long as x aren’t i’m sorry take it once a day usually in the morning and then it lasts throughout the day it slowly releases throughout the day so it’s a lot more convenient but yeah so adderall is the one i took next you’re gonna bake you’re gonna think that i have so many good things to say and i thought so too i had so much hope in
This medication for so many people take it and have good things to say about it and a lot of people with adhd take it i think it’s like the most common medication for people with adhd so i have so much hope and i was really hoping i liked it and i said with 10 milligrams of iron insomnia got even worse my mouth became dry and my teeth were clenching about the same
As with the riddle and i think yeah and at first it was okay like these were all manageable symptoms after maybe like the fourth or fifth day taking executively i turn into a complete zombie and you can ask my best friend haley if you don’t believe me i was like i was so tired maybe in the beginning of the day i wasn’t but then after like maybe 2 p.m. i would get
Extremely tired even when i tried to sleep you don’t adequate amount of hours i was so tired and it wasn’t even just because of sleep because sometimes i actually slept ok ish and i was still extremely tired and like a zombie and i can’t have that at 2 p.m. like my day has barely started you know i got a study i got a work i have a student full-time student with
A job i cannot it was so tough i think i can’t even describe how tough it was it gets worse though i’ll tell you so um then i tried 15 i arm 40 milligrams of iron so i really had hope i wanted to see if maybe if i boosted it up and my psychotherapist agreed with me maybe i visited if i boosted it up sorry then the positive side effects was show more it did not
Because everything else was kind of out weighing it you know the negatives are way up there my mouth became so dry and i tried drinking lots of water and i tried all kinds of lip balms and stuff and yeah didn’t help much i was drinking water clouds away like i really had the peel inside my teeth for clenching so much and my journey was just through the roof it’s
Never been that bad ever but i was just i my heart oh why france which was almost that my heart was pounding so fast i took my heart rate on this app though you put your finger on the camera thing and it’s pretty accurate honestly like all right wherever i went to the office and he took my heart rate it was about the same but i would take it so many times a day
I’m not like 3 times a day and it was scary each time because sometimes it would go to like 110 beats per minute or what actually did a lot but sometimes but yeah my heart rate i would like feel it it’s it was like it was so fast yeah especially on that also that was the biggest negative side effect probably is the exciting thing my teeth kind of so much that my
Jaw hurt and my mouth was dry like i said and if you’re wondering if my concentration focus increased it really did it because all of these other things were just making it impossible for me concentrate and then i tried to get through i tried to push through it because sometimes medications don’t work until you take it after you know a couple of days maybe weeks
I tried to push through as much as i could and i turned into a complete zombie as and i came to my office my psychotherapist is awesome by the way he’s amazing and he’s just trying to help me and test all his medications out so i do not blame any of this on him at all but he apologized so many times because he could see how much i look like a ghost looked like
A zombie and was so tired he really saw it in my face everyone could honestly like there was a change to my personality that i did not like i don’t my best friends long yeah it was just it was oh my god i also i’m proud of myself for getting through it but anyways let me just continue then he wanted to try five minutes you know let hope for that i was like okay
Anything put out a roll i’m okay with so then we started with 30 milligrams of xr by the way i tried adderall ir nxr if i didn’t much a lot before so yeah same thing for me for so for five minutes 30 milligrams of xr ir no no echo oh i think that was the lowest for xr you could do or like one of the lowest and all my negative side effects were toned out like i i
Could sleep finally and my anxiety was it through the roof and my jaw wasn’t so clutched or anything like that my mouth wasn’t so dry i finally you know did didn’t feel like i add ezzor in my mouth after drinking water which that was one of the most annoying things ever no one wants that if you’re wondering about the positive side effects i didn’t really notice
Eddie and i really wish i did and i prayed i’d want really religious but i prayed to get some positive side effects after all of this you know other negative crap i had to deal with i was just hoping for a positive side effect and unfortunately nothing really does full enough then we tried dextroamphetamine you know i tried i have so i’ve so many drugs that i’ve
Tried and that sounds really weird to say but they were all prescribed from the dextroamphetamine it can be taken alone the ten milligrams i was prescribed or it could be taken to boost up the pieman so i tried both ways i don’t really see much of a difference but the dextroamphetamine definitely brought back a little bit of salvia and i was like oh no i don’t want
To tendency was lobbying again so i stopped taking up but i did try it for a while and five amps i tried 40 milligrams because i was like oh maybe this is just not enough for me maybe if i try 40 milligrams that i’ll have some positive side effects not really oh maybe a little bit but i wouldn’t say it’s enough or worth it to take medications and to constantly be
Paying for you know paying for medications because it’s not completely free for me not for my insurance it’s not worth it for me to keep taking it if it barely does anything you know so yeah that’s pretty much it for my journey with different kinds of medications overall i am off my meds literally and i feel a lot better than when i was taking the meds of course
Like i wish that it works for me but every body is different and unfortunately mine it’s not really doesn’t really work great with all these medications five minutes it was okay with but i don’t know i’m also fine advanced is also used to treat eating disorders which is like the cool fact i guess if you’re wondering but yeah definitely talk to your doctor and be
Honest i think i was super audits and open about how each affected me i did not want any bias to come and play i know a lot of people take adderall and they think that it actually helps boost their concentration to focus and one thing i did is it did help me stop yawning and be more energetic for the first day or two that i took it but after taking awhile like it
Doesn’t do that and also the anxiety increase was just way it was just not worth it and also a lot of you that don’t have age do they take adderall it’s a placebo effect pretty much so i want you to do more research on it please if you don’t actually have adhd look at the clinical trials don’t you know just don’t rely on your frat bros that just pop a tea like it’s
Nothing and then think that that’s what got them through the night because baby it did boost their energy but um yeah just just read just read online because it’s a lot of it is just bias no i feel like i’m i feel like in this video it sounds like i’m hating so much on adderall and i’m i’m not ok i just hate it for myself but if it works for you then that’s awesome
Keep doing you yeah i may have a lot of the same side effects that i was trying to cure here or like alleviate like it’s roughly people being too loud bouncing off the walls hyperactivity concentration focus etc yeah i may have those things but and i may have to deal with them everyday but i still think it’s better than when i was a complete zombie and i couldn’t
Get anything done and barely so if you have any other questions feel free to let me know or comments about your experience i hope this helps a little bit if not then whatever but i just wanted to be honest and open and i hope this isn’t too scary you know if you have to take medication i don’t regret you know this whole journey i know it sounds regrettable but i
Don’t regret it because at least i tried you know i don’t want to just keep going on with my life like oh what if i tried adderall like what if i tried to riddle it you know would it really help me so i don’t regret anything i know that’s all i have if you have any video requests please let me know because i don’t really know what to post and give it a like subscribe that’s it bye
