Just a little demo on how to use the Symbicort inhaler! I don’t need mine very often, thanks to some dietary changes that I made (see my last video on asthma), but just in case someone needs to know! 😉
Hey y’all lauren breeden here i just wanted to come on here because i had a recent viewer of my last asthma video asked if i could do a i guess kind of a demonstration of sorts on how to use the symbicort inhaler now i’ve been using inhalers since i was nine years old so they’re pretty much all the same but just in case someone needs to see this here’s kind of a
Demonstration so i use the simple court 160 – 4.5 i don’t know what that really means but and i really don’t need to use this very often like i explained in my last video on asthma but when i do have to use it i’m like when i have too much gluten or when there’s just too much mold in the air or whatever um i just you know only need one puff because this is actually a
Pretty strong dose so i like the symbicort because it works it works really well it’s just a bronchial dilator um so it’s a steroid it’s an inhaled steroid corticosteroid i guess but it also has kind of a counter on the top there and so i know how many doses i have left which is really helpful this is the box that it comes in i always save the box with my prescription
Info in post so i know how long i have until i you know need to get a refill the funny thing about i don’t know if it’s all inhalers but this inhaler at least came in a foil package like it was sealed in a foil package i don’t know why they did that but it was sealed for my protection i guess so anyways so with the symbicort i usually just give it a quick shake
Now with me a lot of people will just know as they push down the button and take a deep breath but every time i do that with any inhaler it doesn’t matter what kind of inhaler it is i always get super lightheaded my you know my head starts to hurt and so i don’t like to do that um but i got this little jim actually when i was in the hospital i’m having my daughter
That was three years ago um but this thing is awesome so this is just i mean it’s called an aerochamber i guess um i call it a spacer i don’t know if that’s the right word for it but um it makes using an inhaler a lot easier now if kids have to use inhalers this is the best way to do it they actually make masks that fit on the end of this that you can just stick
Over a kid’s face but for an adult you can just pump the pump your inhaler into the chamber and then just breathe normally and you only have to take like three to four or breaths and that takes care of it and no lightheadedness um something else i wanted to kind of demonstrate i don’t know if you didn’t hear my goats in the background but my goat penelope is some
Crazy so um this is called a peak flow meter if you have asthma you need to have a peak flow meter let me tell you why so a peak flow meter can basically show you if you’re doing good with your asthma or if you’re doing not so good with your asthma because for me a lot of times you know one of the biggest symptoms that i have is just wheezing and it’s kind of hard
For me to tell well do i need to use my rescue inhaler or am i okay so on my best days um when i know that i’m not having any symptoms at all you know i just kind of did it real quick and i was out of 400 on my bad days when i’m wheezing really bad or i can’t catch my breath i’m usually around a 300 and this is really easy to use obviously it’s just tube with a
Little thing that goes up and down so you just take a deep breath and then exhale really quickly and so i’m i’m close to a 400 mmm i’m not perfect but almost there i’m working progress but a pink flow meter is really really helpful this is like 25 bucks from my pharmacy i don’t even think i had to have a prescription for this but it is really helpful to just give
