Hi there it’s that with the character my copd program today i’m coming to you with the video on inhaler technique and cleaning for the ellipta device so some of the medications that might come in this device would be anoro brio in cruise or trilogy so let’s start off with the technique for this device you can see that i’ve already got a little red mark on here
That’s actually the counter so typically this medication comes with thirty doses and you take it one dose every 24 hours so once a day and at when there are ten doses left you’ll start to see the red come across in the the counter area and then that’ll be kind of a reminder that there’s ten doses left and once that red is fully crossed then there are zero so knowing
Well as soon as that red comes across it can just be a cue to to think of when can i get i get into the pharmacy to get a refill on this medication so let’s get into the technique so we’re gonna start off by opening up the mouthpiece and we’re gonna open it up and we’re actually hear it click when we get to the bottom hear that click so that click actually lets me
Know that the medication is now ready and it’s released so you’ll also notice there’s this little vent here we just want to be sure that whatever we’re holding it we’re not blocking that vent with our fingers so kind of holding the basin to the side is best with this one when we get ready to breathe in we’re going to breathe out to the side then place our mouth
On and when we breathe in we want to breathe a steady slow deep breath in and when we when we get to the top of that breath in we’re going to hold for 510 seconds as long as you can and then breathe out so with this one you you only have to do one so that’s great depending on the medication that’s inside if you’re using brio brio has a steroid in it so you’ll have
To rinse your mouth afterwards the other medications a trilogy is though another one you’ll also have to rinse your mouth out afterwards because it also has a steroid in it as well so i’ll put all that together and do a demonstration here for you so we’ll push it to the side okay so that’s the inhaler technique cleaning for this device you can just clean it with
With a dry tissue or towel or paper towel i’m just clean the mouthpiece area and aside you don’t have to use water for this one the other thing i want to mention too when you when you get this device it comes in a little container and you open up that container as soon as you open it up throw that container away don’t don’t put the medication back inside to kind
Of store it there so i get rid of that container and actually once you open it up from that container the medication is good for six weeks after that so six weeks is 42 days i think my math is right on that but that shouldn’t be that shouldn’t be a sorry after those six weeks the medication is considered no longer effective but that shouldn’t really be a big deal
Because there are only typically they come in only thirty dose devices so you should run out of doses before you get to those 42 days so that’s just in case you have two medications on the go at the same time try to only open one of them and use that one fully until the end before opening the next one so that’s my video online hailer technique and cleaning for the
Ellipta devices thanks for watching today and we’ll see you soon
