23G Or 25G Needle – Which Should You Use For Testosterone Injections?

Why is it that we use a 23G needle for glute injections, but a 25G needle for quad/deltoid injections? Is this necessary? Can we change the needle size? Of course! These are just the most common sizes used for those particular injection sites. In today’s video I explain when and why you might want to change the size of the needle you’re using for your intramuscular injections, especially for testosterone replacement therapy.

Good morning everybody today i want to talk about the difference between the 23 gauge and the 25 gauge needles and wing you should use each one right in this section comes from a question i got from a guy on instagram and he said to me he asked you know why should i use the 23 gauge for glute injections but then i have to use a 25 for the quad injections and so i

Thought that’s a bit of a good question because sometimes we don’t know which is appropriate when to use and today i thought we go into a bit more detail about this now previously i did do a video on this called how to choose the right needle for your injections and i go into sort of depth of all the different needle types for all the different injection sites and

Injection types but today i’m specifically gonna cover the 23 gauge versus 225 gauge so to start off with i think let’s have a look and discuss what the difference between the two needles alright they’re not too different from each other but they have got a couple of distinct features the 23 gauge needle is a slightly bigger slightly longer one right this one is a

1.5 inch needle and it’s a slightly thicker needle the head is about 0.6 millimeters right whereas the 25 gauge needle is a slightly shorter slightly smaller one that is a one inch needle sometimes you get a one and a quarter inch too but usually it’s a one inch needle and that has a 0.5 millimeter head compared to the 0.6 millimeter hit on the 23 gauge now just

To look at the typical use cases of each needle right typically for testosterone replacement therapy and intramuscular injections most doctors will use the 23 gauge one and a half inch needle mainly because they do these injections in your glute right and your glute is obviously there’s a lot of fat there there’s a lot of meat so it has to get the needle has to

Get through the skin through the fat and then into the muscle so it’s got to go in deep in order to get the solution or the testosterone in to the muscle because it’s an intramuscular injection so typically the doctors and nurses are going to use this this is the most common one used in medical practices right now for those of you that are you know doing your own

Injections and things like that some and even sometimes doctors will do other injection sites like the delt or the quad on your leg and in those cases sometimes they’ll use a 23 gauge needle but a lot of times they will also use the 25 gauge needle and the reason for this is because unlike the glute whether it’s a lot of skin and a lot of fact that it has to get

Through to get into the muscle there’s less fat on the leg and is less fat on the shoulder over here so you can get away with a shorter needle so instead of having to use a one and a half inch needle you can use a one inch needle right so how do you know which one you should use because you know he makes a good the original guy also question made a good point why

Should i use a 23 then a 24 color on my butt and a 25 on the quad right you don’t have to use either one it’s completely up to you you’ve got a gauge and use a bit of common sense to determine what you think you need for your body type right my rule of thumb usually is if you’re very lean right if you lean maybe you can see your abs a little bit or you’ve got that

Slide that v-taper on your waistline then you’re most probably going to be able to get away usually with the smaller shorter needle which is the one-inch right for example i’m fairly lean so i use the one inch 25 gauge needle for all my injection sites the quad the deltoid and for the glute injection right and i have no problems with that but other people who

May have a bit more meat on their bodies or maybe they’re larger guys or girls you may need a longer injection right because you have to get through the skin the fat and then into the muscle right you don’t want to get too shallow you want to make sure you get deep enough you want the needle to go all the way in and in those cases maybe you want to use a 23 gauge

Which is one and a half inch needle right now if you have thick legs and or maybe a bit of meat on your legs saying for your shoulder then maybe you want to use the 23 gauge needle but if you’re feeling mean you may be able to get away with the 25 gauge needle now how do you know if it’s gonna work or not right you basically have to right i would stick with what

Doctors usually use the 23 gauge one which is slightly longer but if you want a slightly less painful injection and you feel that doesn’t have to go in as deep then you might want to experiment like i did with a 25 gauge needle and you could get away with it right you could find that it works perfectly and how do you know if it’s working well if you give yourself

In if you swap needles to the slightly shorter one and you give yourself your medication injections or even the doctor doesn’t and you notice that you still feel fine your medication seems to be working you don’t sort of notice any weird side-effects anything like that then it’s probably working and you can go ahead continue using that one right however if you

Switch from a longer needle like a 23 gauge one and a half inch down to the one-inch you do one or two experiments with the injection and make sure you stick it all the way in and you find that you have some adverse side effects right maybe you discover that the medication doesn’t seem to be working or you have some really visible physical effects like maybe you

Find a lump on your skin or you have a really bad reaction and there’s pain there for a week or two weeks off there then you know most likely what probably happened in that scenario is that the needle wasn’t long enough and you didn’t inject all the way down into the muscle you were too shallow and probably landed up somewhere between the skin and the fat and in

That case then you probably know that you should go back to the longer needle now don’t fret if this does happen to you right what you’re gonna do is experience a bit of discomfort a little bit of pain for a while but at least you’ve done experiment and you know that you should probably stick with a longer needle now another factor to consider a lot of guys are

Deciding whether they should go for slightly shorter needle because it’s slightly less painful and one other important fact i want to highlight is that when it comes to pain and making sure you can reduce pain on your ejection sure a needle size plays a bit of a role in it but for me what pays a even more critical role is making sure you find the injection at the

Exact injection location site right i find a lot of guys have complications with the injections because they’re too in a rush to give the injection they don’t spend some time investing and learning where exactly they should be injecting and so they rush through it and they’re injecting in a spot where they shouldn’t be and then they have pain or other complications

Due to it right so i’ve done videos on how the new adult or injection full guide how to do a corn injection full guide you know the best place for a glute injection and i have taken a time to highlight those spots so if you’re unsure about that just go check out those videos too because they will give you an exact idea of where you should be injecting so like

I said i you know someone who like myself is fairly lean i get away with a 1 inch 25 gauge needle and if you’re feeling in you may be able to to just experiment and see how it goes otherwise if you want to play it safe you can’t go wrong with the 23 gauge needle which isn’t too much different from the 25 gauge needle so that’s it i hope that you shine a bit of

Lights on to the situation especially for the viewer who asked the question before i go i want to ask you which needles do you use for your injections is that the 23 gauge was at the 25 gauge and have you switched to a smaller needle and if so what was the experience of that did it go off without a hitch was it smooth or did you have complications please leave a
